APIC Political memorabilia show meets in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – This August 5-7, 2008, hundreds of collectors, political junkies and history buffs will descend on Las Vegas for the largest political memorabilia show and sale in the nation. Thousands of campaign buttons, colorful badges, posters, and other ephemera will be available for purchase.

Sponsored by the American Political Items Collectors (APIC), the three-day show is also an opportunity to buy new and vintage political Americana, view displays of classic campaign items, and get free appraisals of political memorabilia. Additional features include two live auctions and seminars on collecting.

Professionals will provide free appraisals. Previous appraisals have uncovered such finds as mint JFK posters, a 6-foot cloth banner promoting FDR, a 1920-era silk sash urging “Votes for Women” and Ronald Reagan signed material.

Admission for all three days is $25 for individuals, $40 for families, $10 for students with ids.

Organized in 1945, the American Political Items Collectors is a non-profit hobbyist organization dedicated to the study and preservation of materials relating to America’s political history whose membership includes more than 3,500 collectors across the country.

The show will take place at the Riviera Hotel, 2901 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, on Tuesday, Aug 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
