ADVENTURE LOVERS - THE WORLD’S LONGEST GARAGE SALE SET AUG 7-10, 2008 ALABAMA TO OHIO ALONG U.S. 127 CORRIDOR

Dealers and collectors, are you looking for the adventure of a lifetime? Then why not pack the truck full of your most salable treasures or empty out your van for the buying trip of all buying trips and head for the "WORLDS LONGEST GARAGE SALE" slated to begin August 7th, 2008.

This popular summertime favorite, sometimes called “the mother of all garage sales” has been featured on HGTV and written about in Southern Living, Newsweek, USA Today and almost all the ‘must read’ magazines and major newspapers in the country.

The Fentress County Chamber of Commerce in Jamestown, Tenn., has served as headquarters for the 127 Corridor Sale since 1995. Centrally located along the route, Fentress County can also claim to be the origin of the sale. Mike Walker, the County Executive in 1987, came up with the idea of the yard sale, worked hard to make it happen, and planned for it to be an annual event.

Thousands of people participate in the sale each year as vendors. Front lawns turn into storefronts as items are displayed. Off road parking is essential, and many homes have additional parking.

Through the years, vacant fields have become convenient places to rent vendor space. This cluster of sellers at one spot reduces the stop and park routine of the buyers. These areas can be spotted from a distance because of the activity. In addition, community parks, such at the South Fentress Park, have groupings of vendors, good parking and restrooms.

For information from Tennessee home central contact: Chamber of Commerce @ (931) 879-9948 or (800) 327-3945.

You can begin your journey by traveling the 93 mile Lookout Mountain Parkway route from Gadsden, Alabama to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the most "scenic rural America" in the United States. According to Alabama state travel sources, there are more than 630 miles of scenic beauty and tons of yard sales; Alabama has more than 1,000 yard sale vendors alone! You will find everything from antiques, collectibles, crafts, furniture, dinnerware, fresh garden produce, homemade jams and jellies, food vendors, live entertainment and so much more.

Continue on, following the U.S. 127 Corridor from Chattanooga, TN to Defiance, OH for another 530 miles of yard sale bargains. When combined, the Lookout Mountain Parkway and the 127 Corridor have had as many as 5,000 vendors lined along the scenic yard sale route in past World's Longest Yard Sale on Lookout Mountain in Alabama and according to promoters, 2008 promises to be even bigger.
