Around The Country Maine's Blue Hill Fair "Down To Earth" Labor Day Fun Blue Hill, MeEvent Dates: August 28 - September 1, 2008
BLUE HILL, ME - The Blue Hill Fair is a true "Down to Earth" Country Fair. Always scheduled around Labor Day weekend, the fair boasts of some of the finest entertainment, attractions, and exhibits. Situated in the small coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine, the Fair draws thousands from all over the state to enjoy a fun filled weekend. Among the many attractions featured at the fair is a large livestock area, full of the usual farm animals, as well as the llamas and alpacas on display. A short distance from the livestock area, one may take in the powerful Draft Horse and Oxen Pulling. On Saturday and Monday, the Blue Hill Fair features demonstration Harness Racing. Saturday and Sunday the immensely popular Sheep Dog Trials are a featured part of the day's program. Under the direction of Jim and May Davidson, the interest in this event has reflected the abounding enthusiasm that the Davidson's display as they enter their 52nd consecutive year as Superintendents of this Blue Hill Fair Tradition. Entertainment is always a big part of Blue Hill Fair. Performers such as 38 Special, Lorrie Morgan, Charlie Daniels, Diamond Rio, and Faith Hill have all performed on the Blue Hill Fair Stage. This year, the Blue Hill Fair is excited to bring one of the most exciting new acts in country music, Flynnville Train, as its featured show on Labor Day. Personally chosen by Toby Keith for his "Show Dog" record label, and drawing from country, rock and blues inspirations, this band has armed itself with songs like "Last Good Time," "Nowhere Than Somewhere," and "Tequila Sheila," and promises to bring a high level of energy to Labor Day evening at the Blue Hill Fair.
The Blue Hill Fair features a full carnival and midway. Blue Hill Fair is unique in the number of local groups that participate with all sorts of great food and games, and Smokey's Greater Shows provides all kinds of mechanical thrills. Two special attractions, Sue Wee Pig Racing and, Timber Tina, of Survivor Fame, with the Great Maine Lumberjack Show are featured "Fun for the Family" entertainment. The Blue Hill Fair is located on Route 172 in Blue Hill, Maine. Exhibitor contracts will be issued based on type and desirability of product, merchandise or service. This application will be weighed upon the above criteria, as well as conflict with established vendors. The application will be held on file and available space for the 2008 Blue Hill Fair will be filled after August 1, 2008.
